um i am pissed, not that yall will respond.
my kids played at solo and ensemble. they were nervous. they played GREAT
they both got twos or silvers, whichever you want to call it
the judge was fucking evil. gave out 4 golds or ones all day
apparently my shit luck is rubbing off on everyone around me
they were so sad. but they played so well!!!
and i am mad
Your shit luck isn't rubbing off to everyone. I'm sorry that your kids didn't get golds or whatever they are called at solo and ensemble. I think grades and medals shouldn't matter. As long as the kids are improving and enjoying playing. That's what should matter and make you proud.
ReplyDeletethe thing is that i was really proud of them. but they had tears in their eyes. hence my upsetness. they should have been proud and happy but they weren't so i was super mad. i have gotten over it now, and am trying to get a recital together for them in may! i am super excited at the prospect.
ReplyDeleteI think the fact that you were/are obviously so supportive of them will help them get over their initial disappointment. I agree with Patrice; I think stuff like that is so subjective that it shouldn't really matter. Sometimes knowing that the most successful people have been passed over makes people feel better, though :) I like to remind myself that Isaac Stern seriously considered quitting after his debut at Carnegie Hall because of the review of his performance.
ReplyDeleteaww Rach, your little kiddies! I'm sure they played great!
ReplyDeletepoor guys, it's hard to take criticism at that age, but as long as they know that you're proud of them...that's what matters most right?
A recital sounds super fun! You should make them like the vla recitals. tell jokes n stuff, make it chill....puppy chow, poison cookies. nom nom nom
